Peggy Jane Bates Peggy Jane Bates, 68, of Austin Street, Ardmore, TN, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006, at SunBridge Care Center, Ardmore, TN. Funeral services were held Friday, December 29, at 11 a.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Douglas Eubanks and Bro. Mark Nave officiating. Burial was in the Hasting Cemetery with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge. Peggy Jane Bates was born June 14, 1938 in Pulaski, TN, to Newton White Drake and Ethel Brown (Hayes) Drake. She was a member of the Ardmore Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Theresa Forshey. Survivors include her husband, Wayne Bates of Ardmore, TN; daughters, Audrey Faulkner of Summertown, TN, and Shelia Pardon of Ardmore, AL; brother, Harold Drake of Pulaski, TN; grandchildren, Richard Hicks of Columbia, TN, Melissa Hicks of Mount Pleasant, TN, Amy Curtis, Kevin Eckstein, Christina Pardon and Heath Pardon, all of Ardmore, AL; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Wayne Schrimsher, Greg Schrimsher, Keith Schrimsher, Kevin Williams, Richard Hicks, and Kevin Eckstein. Honorary pallbearers were all her friends and grandson, Heath Pardon.

Dorothy Jean Mitchell

Dorothy Jean Mitchell, 80, of Robertson Hollow Road, Taft, TN, died Sunday, December 31, 2006, at Lincoln Skill Center, Fayetteville, TN.

Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, January 2, at 3:00 p.m. at Blanche Cemetery in Blanche, TN, with Bro. Derrick Moose officiating. Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home was in charge.

Dorothy was born February 19, 1926 to Everett and Lillian Bechler Maddox in Mishawaka, IN. She graduated from Lapoz High School in 1943 and from the College of Commerce in South Bend, IN, after having retired from her legal secretary job. She worked 15 years as a tax specialist for H & R Block. She was married to Wesley Mitchell for 56 years and lived in this area since 1986 coming from Indiana. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Patricia Izdepski and June Renz.

Survivors include her husband, Wesley Mitchell of Taft, TN; sister, Rosemary Owens of Walkerton, IN, and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Ruth Newton

Mary Ruth Newton, 70, of Pulaski, TN, died Monday, January 1, 2007, at her home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 4, at 12 noon at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Johns Cemetery with Carr & Erwin Funeral Home in charge.

Mary Ruth was born October 26, 1936, in Giles County, TN. She was retired from Frito-Lay and Giles County Board of Education. She was preceded in death by her father, Johnnie Wilson Yant.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Yant of Ardmore, TN; husband, L.T. Newton of Pulaski, TN; three daughters, Susan Woodard and husband Randy of Pulaski, TN, Sandy Sumners of Pulaski, TN, Kim Henson and husband Mark of Pulaski, TN; one brother, James Yant of Ardmore, TN; four sisters, Mattie Lou Davis of Elkton, TN, Barbara Gammon of Nashville, TN, Fannie Rolin of Ardmore, Emily Billings of Taft, TN; five grandchildren, Tracie Lynne and Whitney Henson, Lindsey and Walker Sumners, and Jake Woodard.
