Tigers Take Championship At Elkmont

The Ardmore Tigers defeated Elkmont 71-45 Saturday to win the championship of the 3rd Annual Elkmont Lions Club Invitational Tournament. On the way to the title Ardmore defeated Lauderdale County 61-57 on Thursday, West Limestone in overtime Friday 54-48 and the host team on Saturday.

Ardmore 71, Elkmont 45

The Ardmore Tigers scored 13 unanswered points in the second half to assure themselves of a 71-45 win over the Elkmont Red Devils Saturday in the championship game of the 3rd Annual Elkmont Lions Club Invitational Tournament.

The lead swapped hands six times before James Vann Teeples hit a 2-pointer to give Ardmore an 8-7 lead. The Red Devils never led again. When Red Devil Tom Logan hit a free throw, Ardmore led 14-8.

Two was as close as Elkmont could get in the second period. Logan hit a 3-pointer and a free throw to make the score 23-21 Ardmore. The Tigers outscored their opposition 11-2 the remainder of the quarter.

The Tigers scored the last 11 points of the third quarter and the first two of the fourth. Ardmore’s largest lead in the second half came when Matthew Clem hit a pair of free throws to make the score 67-40. The remaining points of the game came from the free throw line until Ryan McMunn scored Ardmore’s final two points.

Clem took scoring honors for the winners with 23 points as Will Lewis added 17 and Landon Curtis 10. Duron Robinson and T. J. Duncan each scored five points while Teeples and Jake Stagner added four points each and McMunn three.

Logan led the Red Devils with 20 points and Tim Woolridge 12. Cody Coffman had four points for the Red Devils. Scoring one point each for Elkmont were David Solomon, Joshua McWilliams and Vince Patterson.

Ardmore 54, West Limestone 48

The Ardmore Tigers outscored the West Limestone Wildcats 13-7 in overtime Friday in the semifinals of the 3rd Annual Elkmont Lions Club Christmas Tournament to advance to the championship.

The Tigers connected on 8-of-their 11 free throw attempts in overtime and had a 3-pointer from Will Lewis and a 2-pointer from Jake Stagner in the win.

The Tigers led at each quarter stop, 18-14, 25-22 and 36-34.

West Limestone’s Zane Campbell scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter making the Tigers have to come-from-behind to send the game into extra minutes.

The Tigers scored the last five points in regulation, Stagner a 2-pointer with 1:32 remaining and Matthew Clem a 3-pointer with 4.5 left.

Stagner gave the Tigers the lead in overtime with a 2-pointer. Campbell countered for the Wildcats. Lewis hit a 3-pointer, Duron Robinson and Clem a free throw before Justin White hit a 3-pointer for the Wildcats. Jordan Oles hit a pair of free throws for West before Stagner scored the final points of the game from the free throw line.

Clem and Campbell shared game honors with 22 points each. Stagner scored eight and Lewis seven for the winners. Ardmore had six points each from Robinson and Teeples as Feraas Al-Saba scored three and Landon Curtis two.

Oles and White has eight and seven points respectively for the Wildcats. Darius Smith finished with four points as Cody Smith and Tommy Reyer each scored two.

Ardmore 61, Lauderdale County 57

The Ardmore Tigers opened the 3rd Annual Elkmont Lions Club Christmas Tournament with a 61-52 win over the Lauderdale County Tigers on Thursday.

Ardmore never trailed after Matthew Clem knocked down a pair of 3-pointers to break a 3-3 deadlock. That began a 13-0 run for the winners.

Will Lewis’ 2-pointer gave Ardmore a 42-22 lead before Lauderdale County scored the next 15 points. Jake Stagner’s basket ended that run. Lauderdale County pulled within five, 44-39, when Jasmine Watkins hit the last 2-pointer of the third quarter.

Duron Robinson’s 3-pointer began a 9-0 run by Ardmore that including two points from Matthew Clem and four from Stagner.

Ardmore hit 4-of-their-6 free throw attempts in the last 45 seconds.

Clem led the winners with 20 as Stagner added 18. Lewis had eight Ardmore points while Robinson and Feraas Al-Saba each scored five and Landon Curtis three.

Robin Horton paced Lauderdale County with 16 while Zach Palmer scored seven.
