“We Serve” Is Lions Club Motto
The motto of Lions Club International is “We Serve” and the members of the Ardmore Lions Club try to carry out that motto in our community. Lions are especially dedicated to serving the blind and visually impaired. This is a commitment made by Lions Club International after Helen Keller challenged members to become her “knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness” during the 1925 convention in Cedar Point, OH.


FNB Announces New Community Board Members
First National Bank’s Ardmore Community Board met in January for their quarterly meeting with four new members for 2007. Joining the board this year are Scotty Faulk, J.B. Turner, Jr., Lee King and John Smith. They join other board members Nick Holland, John Curtis, Willard Whitt, Wade Boggs, Gearil Smith, Jimmy Butler, and Thomas Rochelle.


City Council Meets
The Ardmore Tennessee City Council met at the City Annex February 1, 2007 at 6:30 P.M. Mayor Bobby Hastings brought the meeting to order. Alderman Ken Crosson opened with prayer. Present at the meeting were Mayor Bobby Hastings, Vice Mayor Ken Crosson, Aldermen Raymond Crabtree, Garon Hargrove, Laurene Schrimsher, Janice Reece and Tim McConnell. Guests were Chief William Oliver, Terry Barkley Street Maintenance employee; John Baker, and members of the news media.


Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest
Ardmore Police Chief William Oliver reported Thursday, February 1 that Officer David Posey pulled over Charles Ray Smith Tuesday night, January 30th on a speeding violation.





Tigers Win One, Lose One
The Ardmore Tigers split a pair of non-area basketball tilts last week. On Tuesday the Tigers defeated Priceville 55-51 before falling at West Morgan 60-49 on Friday.


Lady Tigers Get Two Wins
West Morgan and Priceville were the latest victims of the Ardmore Lady Tigers as they prepare for post season play. Ardmore defeated the Priceville Lady Bulldogs 69-55 last Tuesday at home and then hit the road to West Morgan Friday returning with a 58-36 win over the Lady Rebels.



East Limestone, Madison County Host Area
The Area 14 4A Tournament for girls will be held at East Limestone and the area tournament for boys will be held at Madison County later this week. The goal for all four schools is to finish either champion or runner up to extend the season. A first round loss will end the season.


Three Giles County Teams In Sweetheart Tournament
Elkton, Minor Hill and Richland will join Riverside Christian Academy in a two-day Sweetheart Tournament at Giles County High School Friday and Saturday.
