"I want people to know that what we did on the field had nothing to do with my decision to leave," Adams continued. "Over the Christmas break my fiancé Melissa and I discussed things in detail and, in the end, we arrived at the conclusion that it would be best for all concerned, especially my family, if I moved closer to home." Adams came to Ardmore High School after a successful career as Head Football Coach at Calera High School. Adams had nothing but praise for Ardmore High School, the administrators and the local community. "The Ardmore Quarterback Club has been outstanding and I appreciate all of their tireless efforts in helping me get settled in and get the season going," said Adams. "I also want to express my appreciation to Mr. Owens, Mr. Long and all the parents and kids who helped us and supported us. I want the community to know and especially want the kids to know that I wish Ardmore nothing but the best and I will long treasure the friendships I have developed here. Again, I want to stress that this decision is based on what's best for my family. No matter how important something is, family has to come first." Adams went on to say that he tenured his resignation early so AHS would have time to put a new Head Football Coach in place prior to spring practice. According to AHS Principal Mike Owens, a search will begin immediately for a new Head Football Coach. Owens said that the process would be similar to that used last year. The coaching vacancy will be advertised and a search committee will be formed. The committee will narrow down the field of candidates, interviews will be conducted and a final interview will be held with Principal Owens and Dr. Barry Carroll of the Limestone County School Board. Owens states that he hopes that a selection will be made by early April, in time for spring football practice. |
