Blood Drive Planned
February 21 & 22 In Athens

All eligible blood donors are encouraged to join LifeSouth Community Blood Centers and Athens-Limestone Hospital for a blood drive on Wednesday, February 21. The LifeSouth Blood Mobile will be accepting donations in the Emergency Department parking lot at 700 West Market Street in Athens from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

LifeSouth will also accept donations on Thursday, February 22 inside the hospital’s Education Department, located near the Sanders Street entrance between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The hospitals of North Alabama, including Athens-Limestone Hospital, are working with LifeSouth to ensure a stable blood supply. LifeSouth promises that all blood collected in North Alabama will stay in the region, unless supply exceeds demand.

All donors receive a recognition items and a cholesterol screening. Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 103 pounds, and show a valid photo id.

LifeSouth is a non-profit, charitable organization that supplies blood components to more than 110 medical facilities in Alabama, Florida and Georgia. LifeSouth is licensed by the FDA, accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks, and is a member of America’s blood Centers and AABB.
