Blanche School Athletes
Honored At Banquet

The Blanche School Bulldog Athletic Department honored their athletes at a banquet on Thursday evening, February 8, in the Bulldog gym. Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Chris Jones, head football coach and teacher at Hazel Green High School.

After a welcome by Jones, student athlete Jo Jo Wiser gave the invocation. Students, staff members, and guests present enjoyed a buffet meal.

After the meal, Cheerleader Sponsor Judy Conley and her assistant Shelia Long recognized the Bulldog cheerleaders. The girls were praised for their enthusiasm and school spirit.

Coach Randy Milligan then recognized the boys’ basketball team. Jo Jo Wiser received the Most Valuable Player award and Ryan Hamer was named the Most Improved basketball player. Eighth graders Chris Lukawecz, Jacob Walker and Jo Jo Wiser were presented their basketball jerseys in frames.

The Lady Bulldogs basketball team members were honored next by Coach Milligan. Hanna McNeal received the Most Valuable Player award while Savanna Brantley took home the Most Improved award. Eighth grade girls also received their jerseys in frames.

Head Football Coach Scott Woodfin praised the efforts of his 2006 football team. Woodfin presented the Jim Cooper Award to Nathan King. Travis Perry received the Hustle Award and John Howard received the award for the Most Improved player. The Offensive Lineman award went to Brad Warren while Jo Jo Wiser received the Defensive Back award. Logan Clem was named the Defensive Most Valuable Player and Jacob Walker received the Offensive Most Valuable Player award. Eighth grade team members also received their jerseys. Coach Woodfin was assisted by Amy Clem, Barney Graham, Andy Swinford and Greg Wiser.

Members of the Lady Bulldogs Volleyball Team were recognized by Coach Milligan. The Most Improved award went to Rachel Boyett. Caulyn Pressnell received the Most Valuable Player award. Eighth grade volleyball players were presented their jerseys in frames. The volleyball team was coached by Randy Milligan and his assistant, Fran Hamilton.

The coaches in each sport also expressed thanks to the parents, all assistant coaches and friends of Blanche School for their continued support of the athletic program.
