Tiger Band Auction To Benefit D.C. Trip

The award winning Ardmore Tiger Band will host its 19th Annual Band Boosters Benefit Auction. The auction will be held Saturday, March 3rd at 6 p.m. in the High School Gymnasium. The auction is another fundraiser for the band members who will be attending the scheduled trip to our Nation’s Capital on Wednesday, April 18th.

Registration begins at 4 o’clock and the silent auction begins at 5.

With over 250 items to be auctioned, there must be something every Ardmore Fan can’t live without, including a 1989 Buick Skylark, concert and event tickets, a collectible John Deere pedal tractor, various electronics, gift certificates, jewelry, and many more items. Flyers for the auction are available at various locations all around the community including Your Community Shopper and the Ardmore Band Room.

Band Director Stanley Nelson would like to commend Fowler Auction and Real Estate Service for their dedication to the band’s major fundraiser that they have conducted for the past 18 years.

All the money from the auction and every other fund raiser that band students participate in goes to cover the students’ costs for the trip that the band takes every other year. This year the band will play an hour-long concert at the WWII memorial. Music for this auspicious occasion was selected by Nelson and includes: Eternal Fathers Strong to Save (Navy Hymn), Armed Forces Salute, Carmen Dragon’s America the Beautiful, and Stars and Stripes Forever composed by John Phillips Sousa.

The itinerary for the six-day excursion on Capitol Hill is filled with amazing opportunities. Mr. Nelson is holding an essay contest and the winners will be participating in the Wreath Laying Ceremony on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. Attendees will tour the Smithsonian Institute’s Museum, visit Ford’s Theatre and Lincoln Museum, and tour the United States Capitol Building and many other treasures in Washington.
