Familiar Faces In Final Four

The Tanner boys and girls and the Madison County boys all advanced to this week’s state tournament in Birmingham by winning their respective regional championships.

Tanner’s girls captured the Class 2A Northwest Regional championship at Wallace State last Friday. Tanner defeated Mars Hill 67-65 in their opening game and then beat Westminster Christian 54-40 in the finals.

Tanner began their quest for the state championship Tuesday facing Reeltown.

The Tanner Rattlers advanced to the Final Four after defeating Mars Hill 76-65 and then West Morgan 67-58 in the championship game of the region.

R. C. Hatch provided the opposition for Tanner in Birmingham on Tuesday.

The Madison County Tigers, a member of the same area as Ardmore, captured the Class 4A regional crown. The Tigers stopped Dora 48-46 and Lawrence County 63-57 in the championship game. The Tigers face Central Tuscaloosa on Wednesday morning.
