Matt Brewer Wins Medal In Atlanta

Matt Brewer of Elkwood Village in Bobo, AL competed in the Figure Skating event with the Special Olympics held in Atlanta, Georgia on January 18 and 19. Brewer won his third place medal by performing a James Bond routine for the judges.

Matt was born in Ausbergen, Germany January 1, 1972, and has lived in the Ardmore area for 34 years. He currently works at Hardee’s in Ardmore and has for the past 15 years. Matt is a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church and the Civitan Club where he is the Chairman of the Candy Boxes, which support the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, AL.

Brewer participates in karate instructed by Mike Brewer at Bethlehem Baptist Church and has earned his Green Belt. He has been playing the guitar for about eight years and enjoys Gospel and Christmas music, but his favorite musician is John Denver.

Brewer is the caretaker of 25 chickens, his dog Spike and cat Tiger. He mows the lawn and helps in the greenhouse at the home.

Brewer is a 1993 graduate of Sparkman High School and he lettered for 4 years in the band’s percussion line.

Matt has competed in many events at all levels and has won numerous medals for his abilities. He won a gold medal in the parallel bars category at Notre Dame. Matt attended a Horseback Riding Invitational in Lyme, Connecticut, as well as International Competitions in Alaska and Reno, Nevada for figure skating.

Matt Brewer has been skating for 15 years and competes at least twice a year.

He is an all around good guy who enjoys working and helping anybody when he can.
