Lady Tigers Stop Two by Perry Lewter The Ardmore Lady Tigers won two and lost two last weekend in the Hazel Green Invitational Tournament. On Friday Ardmore fell to Grissom 3-1 before stopping Hueytown 5-1. On Saturday East Limestone stopped Ardmore 8-6 before the Lady Tigers defeated Buckhorn 5-1. Details from Saturday’s games were not available. Ardmore 5, Hueytown 1 Casey Steadman fashioned a 1-hitter when the Ardmore Lady Tigers stopped Hueytown 5-1 Friday in the Sparkman Invitational Tournament. Steadman, Aarika Boggs and Amber Wise each hit a triple for the winners. Getting a base hit each were Shannon Fogg and Jada Norton. Ardmore scored four runs in the bottom of the first and one run in the third. The lone Hueytown run came in the top of the third following a pair of errors. The lead-off batter got life on an outfield error and scored on an infield error. Steadman struck out eight and walked two in the win. It was Steadman’s second win in as many days. Hueytown used a pair of pitchers, the first striking out seven and the second striking out two. Grissom 3, Ardmore 1 Aarika Boggs was charged with the pitching loss when Grissom beat the Lady Tigers 3-1. Boggs gave up five hits while striking out six. Boggs also was tagged with the loss to East Limestone on Saturday. Amber Wise had the only base hits for Ardmore. |
