Sanderson began his remarks by stating that the team's overall 10-16 mark was deceptive.
"We got off to a 1-7 start," said Sanderson. "But we went 9-9 the rest of the season and were involved in more than a few close games. We had three two-point losses and lost twice in overtime."
Senior awards were presented to Charlie Deffenbaugh, John David Kobeck, Bryan McClendon and Landon Taylor. The remainder of the squad received Participation Awards as well.
Matthew Clem and Duron Robinson were recognized for being named to the All-Area 15 Team and Will Lewis was honored for being named to the All-County Team.
Clem was also honored as Most Valuable Player and Best Free Throw Shooter. Clem drained nearly 70 percent of his shots from the charity stripe during the 2005-2006 season. Robinson was also honored as Leading Rebounder and Lewis earned the Best Defensive Player Award.
Charlie Deffenbaugh and Landon Taylor were honored by being named Permanent Co-Captains.
Landon Curtis won honors as Most Improved Player and John David Kobeck was honored with the Stateline Sporting Goods Sportsmanship Award.
Ryan McMunn received the coveted Coaches Award in recognition for his positive attitude, team spirit, hustle and perseverance in overcoming a serious illness prior to the beginning of the season. McMunn displayed great tenacity in working hard to get back into shape and return to the hardwood.
Sanderson expressed his gratitude to the players, the parents, the community and school administrators for supporting Tiger basketball and helping to make it a success.
