Lady Tigers Fare Well In Tournament

The Ardmore Lady Tigers advanced to the first round of the Gold Tournanment Saturday before being eliminated by Boyd Buchanan of Chattanooga. Ardmore faired well after having to adjust their lineup after senior shortstop Shannon Fogg suffered a leg injury.

The Lady Tigers stopped Athens, West Limestone and Cornersville while dropping contests to Soddy Daisy and Boyd Buchanan.

Boyd Buchanan 2, Ardmore 0

The Ardmore Lady Tigers were shut-out by the Lady Bucaneers of Boyd Buchanan 2-0 in the opening round of the Gold Tournament in the Lady Tigers Invitation Saturday afternoon.

Boyd Buchanan fashioned a no-hitter while allowing four base runners. Jana Norton, drew a walk in the opening frame. In the fourth inning loser hurler Aarika Boggs and Amber Wisedrew a walk. In the fifth Kayla Thompson drew a free pass before Jennifer Ratley got life on an error in the sixth inning,

The Chattanooga team scored one run in the first on a walk and a base hit. The other run came in the fourth on back-to-back singles.

Ardmore 5, Cornersville 2

Aarika Boggs picked up the win when Ardmore defeated Cornersville 5-2 Saturday afternoon.

The score remained tied, 2-2, until the top of the third when Jana Norton scored. Norton hit a double and scored after back-to-back singles from Casey Steadman and Jennifer Ratley.

Aarika Boggs and Casey Steadman scored in the top of the fifth. Boggs hit a double and scored on Steadman’s triple. Steadman scored when Ratley hit into an infield error.

Norton and Steadman gave Ardmore the early lead in the opening inning. Norton walked and scored when Steadman hit into a fielder’s choice. Steadman scored on Amber Wise’s sacrifice.

Tori Wolaver and Christi Worth scored for Cornersville. Wolaver got life on an infield error. She scored on Worth’s base hit. Worth scored on Sara King’s single.

Soddy Daisy 9, Ardmore 4

Soddy Daisy enjoyed a 6-run first inning on the way to a 9-4 win over Ardmore Saturday morning in the Lady Tiger Invitational.

Jennifer Ratley walked and scored on Amy Collier’s single in the bottom of the second.

Soddy Daisy sent eight batters to the plate in the top of the third for their final three runs,

Callie Steadman hit a 3-run homerun in the bottom of the fourth for Ardmore’s other runs.

Steadman’s round-tripped scored her along with Jennifer Ratley and Amber Wise who each had a base hit. Aarika Boggs had Ardmore’s only other hit a single.

Ardmore 4, West Limestone 1

Ardmore hammered out 10 hits when the Ardmore Lady Tigers stopped West Limestone 4-1 Friday night in the Lady Tiger Invitational. Aarika Boggs got the pitching win.

Amy Collier hit a single and double while Jada Norton and Boggs each hit a pair of singles. Jennifer Ratley’s double was Ardmore’s only extra base hit. Casey Steadman, Amber Wise and Brittany Miles each hit a single for the winners.

Andrea Griggs had the Lady Wildcats’ only hit and scored their lone run. Griggs got a base hit in the opening inning. The run came in the fourth inning after being hit by a pitch.

Ardmore 5, Athens 0

Amy Collier hit a 3-run homerun to lead Ardmore to a 5-0 win over Athens in the opening game of the Lady Tiger Invitational Tournament.

Casey Steadman threw a 1-hitter to get the win.

Jada Norton and Callie Steadman each hit a pair of singles. Jennifer Ratley hit two triples as Aarika Boggs and Amber Wise each had a base hit.

Tiffanie Eaton had Athens’ only hit. a single, in the second inning.

Norton scored the initial Ardmore run in the bottom of the second. Ratley, Wise, Norton, Callie Steadman and Collier all scored in the fourth.

Soddy Daisy stopped Boyd Buchanan to win the gold tournament top prize. Athens beat West Limestone to win the silver tournament.
