Madison Cross Roads Homemakers met March 28 at the home of Frankie Johnson. Opaline West gave the devotion on "Hugs", how important they are and how they fill our life with warmth and love and make our days merrier.
Our president reminded the club of upcoming events and projects we are working on. We're making teddy bears again for Huntsville Hospital. Their need is greater than our sewing time, it seems. We're also collecting soda tabs for Ronald McDonald House and recycling cell phones and electrical items.
We have a glass painting class the second Tuesday of each month at New Sharon Senior Center. We're planning to keep that day for crafts and will be doing other projects. Emily Haggard is our leader for this class. We're so glad to have Emily join our club since the Hazel Green Club has disbanded. We are also glad to welcome Laura Byrd as a member. Both of these ladies are so talented. We're always looking for new members and we guarantee you lots of fun and fellowship plus as much community service as you're willing to do.
April 27 is our "Stepping Into Spring" day. This meeting will be held at the Huntsville Board of Realtors building at 535 Monroe Street. The program will start with check in at 10:30. We'll have lunch and a wonderful program with lots of new ideas for spring. Tickets are $12.00. To order, mail check to Elizabeth Griswold, 122 Rachel Drive, Huntsville, AL 35806. The public is invited. Join us for a great day. Deadline for tickets is April 19.
We had Dr. Mia Irby, a dentist from Huntsville, as our guest speaker. She gave us a lot of good information on tooth care and how important it is to our general health. She had the answers to all our questions and then some. It is so inspirational to see a young woman take on such a big job and with so much courage and care she shows her patients. We felt honored to meet her and see such dedication.
Delicious refreshments were served to all members and one guest, Linda Lou Foster, niece of Lynda McLemore.
April's meeting will be at the home of Laura Byrd. Our project will be a plant sale.
