City to purchase new
“Welcome to Ardmore” signs

The City of Ardmore, TN Board of Mayor and Aldermen has authorized the purchase of three new “Welcome to Ardmore” signs, along with three state of the art trash receptacles, to be located at needed points throughout the city.

The action came at last Thursday night’s scheduled board meeting.

Alderwoman Janice Reece began the discussion of the matter by reporting that a grant request from the city to the State of Tennessee had been turned down. The grant money would have been used to purchase “Welcome to Ardmore” signs and several sorely needed trash bins.

The issue of new “Welcome to Ardmore” signs has been before the board for several years and last Thursday’s action came as a relief to many, including Reece. “We really don’t have any signs along the Interstate even saying that Ardmore is here,” commented Reece. “And we need the trash bins very badly. I would like to seem them placed in lighted areas where people could easily see them, especially in shopping areas.”

After discussing the matter, Alderman Ken Crosson motioned to authorize the purchase of three new signs at a cost of $695 per sign and three new trash receptacles as a cost of $600 per receptacle.

Alderwoman Laurene Schrimsher seconded Crosson’s motion, which passed unanimously.
