Tigers split area games

The Ardmore Tigers eeked out a 12-11 win at Elkmont late Friday to complete their fourth game in a five-day span. Earlier last week the Tigers defeated Butler 10-9 and split a pair of area games with East Limestone. On Tuesday the Indians stopped the Tigers in Ardmore 7-6 before Ardmore won at East Limestone last Thursday 6-4.

Ardmore 12, Elkmont 11

Clay Wales and Eric Atchley hammered out three hits each and Ryne Strong hit a 2-run homerun to lead Ardmore to a 12-11 win at Elkmont last Friday.

David Keenum, Clint Carroll and Jake Marlow pitched for the winners as Chance Newby and Justin Marshall pitched for the Red Devils.

The Tigers scored in each inning with the exception of the fifth.

Atchley drove in three runs while hitting a double and two singles while Wales hit three singles and drove in three runs.

Strong’s homerun came in a four run fourth inning.

Will Lewis added a pair of singles while Jarrod Mullins, Marlow, Matt Smith and Matt Lannom each had a base hit.

Marshall led Elkmont with a homerun and two singles. Matt Vaughn added a single and double while Ian Milam, Matthew Compton, Tom Logan, Joe Dowd and Landon Lawrence each had a base hit.

The Tigers scored four runs in the second and four in the fourth while Elkmont scored five in the second and three in the fourth.

Ardmore 6, East Limestone 4

The Ardmore Tigers took the lead in the sixth inning and never trailed again in their 6-4 win at East Limestone Thursday.

Trailing 4-3 in the sixth, the Tigers pushed across a pair of runs to get their first lead and only tie of the area contest.

With two outs, Jake Marlow got life on an infield error and scored on Jarrod Mullins’ base hit. Mullins scored on Matt Lannom’s base hit to lead 5-4.

Eric Atchley hit a single and scored in the top of the seventh. Atchley moved around the bases on Clay Wales’ base hit and scored when Kyle Smith hit into an infield error.

The Tigers were limited to five hits but took advantage of five Indians errors. Getting a base hit for the winners were Zach Mitchell, Atchley, Wales, Mullins and Lannom.

East Limestone 7, Ardmore 6

A come-from-behind seventh inning rally fell short as the visiting East Limestone Indians handed Ardmore their first area loss Thursday 7-6.

The Indians held a 7-3 advantage after four innings of play. The Tigers pushed across two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Jake Marlow got hit by a pitch to lead off the sixth and scored when Matt Lannom hit into a fielder’s choice. Lannom scored when Will Lewis hit a double.

Eric Atchley led off the seventh with a double and scored on Jarrod Mullins’ double.

Atchley hit a double and two singles while Lewis hit a double and single and Zach Mitchell two singles for Ardmore. Kyle Smith hit a double and Marlow hit a single.

Ardmore 10, Butler 9

A single and a pair of errors in the bottom of seventh allowed Ardmore to get a 10-9 win over the visiting Butler Rebels last Monday.

Josh Marlow and Clint Carroll pitched for the Tigers in the win.

The visitors led 9-7 after five complete innings before Carroll allowed just one hit in the last two innings.

Ardmore pulled within one in the sixth after Eric Atchley scored after getting a base hit.

In the seventh inning the Tigers scored twice with two outs Will Lewis scored after hitting a single. Atchley got life on an infield error and scored when Clay Wales hit into a fielding error.

Zach Mitchell, Matt Smith and Wales each hit a single and double for the winners. Will Lewis and Atchley added a pair of singles apiece. Jarrod Mullins doubled and Jake Marlow singled for the winners.
