With spring in the air, comes the thoughts of gardening and with this in mind the Friends of the Ardmore Library have done some special planning for you. Mechele Claridy will present the Friends of the Library’s March Enrichment Program, “Knock-out Roses,” on March 14 at 2 p.m. Mechele will discuss disease, insect, and mold resistant during this free public program. For several years, she presented the 3-in-1 (Systemic) for roses in Athens and now you can enjoy this wonderful program right here in Ardmore. Averages taken from the Huntsville Times article, “Make this the year you make learning a priority.” “51 percent of the American population never reads a book over 400 pages after they complete their formal education. Seventy-three percent of all books in libraries are never checked out. If you read just one book per month for 12 straight months, you will be in the top 25 percentile of all intellectuals in the world. If you read five books on one subject, you are one of the world’s foremost leading authorities on that subject? If you read just 15 minutes a day - every day, for one year - you can complete 20 books!” New Books: Nora Roberts’ “Black Rose,” Mari C. Schuh’s “Chickens on the farm,” Jim Pipe’s “The giant book of sharks & other scary predators,” “Lauraine Snelling’s “A Land to call home,” and several new books by Lori Wick. Also for those that have been asking, “Home Sweet Home Alabama” is back in the library after being processed and is ready for checkout. The Story Time Schedule for preschoolers at 10 a.m. for the next two weeks is: March 7 “Doctor Seuss” with Becky Smith and on March 14 “Signing” with Bryan Clark. |
