Ardmore’s Lady Tigers Split Area Games by Perry Lewter A win over East Limestone and a loss at Madison County makes this Thursday’s contest against East Limestone even bigger for the Ardmore Lady Tigers. The two teams will meet at 4:30 p.m. at Ardmore High School. Ardmore 3, East Limestone 1 Eighth grader Kelsey Gilbert hit a double in the bottom of the fifth and the Ardmore Lady Tigers never trailed in their 3-1 win at East Limestone last Thursday. Gilbert’s big hit came with the score deadlocked 0-0. Jada Norton hit a single and scored on Gilbert’s double. Gilbert scored when Casey Steadman hit a sacrifice. Aarika Boggs scored in the top of the seventh after hitting a double. She moved around the bases on Steadman’s single and scored on Jennifer Ratley’s sacrifice. East Limestone’s Bess Rhodes led-off the bottom of the seventh hitting into an infield error and scored two batters later on Danielle Holder’s sacrifice. Steadman struck out 13 Lady Indian batters. Losing pitcher Kayla Sneed hit a triple while Jyssica Pepper hit a double for East. Holder and McKenzie Crabtree each hit a single. Boggs had a single and double for the winners. Gilbert doubled as Norton, Casey Steadman and Callie Steadman each had a base hit. Madison County 3, Ardmore 2 The Madison County Lady Tigers jumped to a 3-1 advantage forcing Ardmore to play catch up on Tuesday. Ardmore scored a single run in the seventh dropping a 3-2 decision. Aarika Boggs hit a first inning homerun but that was the only run Ardmore could manage until the seventh. In between runs Ardmore managed five hits, one each inning with the exception of the fourth. Casey Steadman doubled, Brittany Miles singled and tripled, as Boggs and Jennifer Ratley singled. Ardmore left two runners stranded on the bases in the seventh. With one out Jada Norton hit a single and scored after Boggs and Steadman each hit a single. Steadman struck out 11 and gave up three hits in being tagged with the loss. Emily Gibb got the win for Madison County. |
