Grissom 2, Ardmore 0 The Grissom Lady Tigers scored two runs in the fifth inning to get a 2-0 win over the Ardmore Lady Tigers in a tournament at the Hunstville Sportsplex Friday night. Casey Steadman pitched for Ardmore allowing four hits while striking out six different batters. She did not issue a free pass. Amy Collier’s single in the bottom of the second was the only hit allowed by Tara Thompson. Thompson struck out 13, each Ardmore batter at least once, in getting the win. Ardmore 4, Hartselle 1 Casey Steadman is a name that the Hartselle Lady Tigers will remember. Steadman hit a homerun and earned the save Friday when Ardmore defeated Hartselle 4-1. Steadman’s first inning over the fence homerun began a 3-run Ardmore outburst forcing Hartselle to play catch-up the remainder of the game. Amber Wise and Amy Collier each got a base hit and scored before Hartselle could come to bat. Second baseman Candice Mills’ single drove in Wise and Collier. Aarika Boggs, who got life on an infield error, scored in the second inning on Jennifer Ratley’s base hit. Kay Orr’s five inning homerun accounted for Hartselle’s run. Boggs pitched the first 3 1/3 innings allowing three hits before giving way to Steadman. Orr’s round-tripper was the only hit allowed by Steadman. |
