Lady Tigers Finish 4th by Perry Lewter The Ardmore Lady Tigers finished fourth in the seven-team Limestone County Softball Tournament last Saturday at Clements. Ardmore opened the meet with a 3-2 win over Elkmont on Friday before falling to East Limestone 10-0 later than evening. On Saturday Ardmore edged Athens Bible School 1-0 before falling 13-2 to Elkmont. Elkmont and East Limestone faced off in the championship game. Elkmont 13, Ardmore 2 The Elkmont Lady Red Devils pounded out 13 hits and took advantage of five Ardmore errors to remain alive in the county tournament with a 13-2 win. Kelsey Gilbert and Kayla Thompson pitched for the Lady Tigers. Sarah Solomon pitched for the winners. The Lady Tigers led 2-0 after one complete inning. Lead-off batter Meagan Tribble got hit by a pitch and scored on Anna Grace Ussery’s single. Ardmore’s runs came from Brittany Miles and Casey Steadman. Miles hit a single and scored on Amber Wise’s sacrifice. Steadman scored when Amy Collier hit into an infield error. The Lady Red Devils regained the lead in the second. Emily Sutton walked. She scored when Ashley Robertson hit a triple. Tribble hit into an error to score Robertson. Tribble and Robertson scored again for Elkmont in the fourth. Robertson got life on an error and Tribble hit into a fielder’s choice. Bailee Robinson’s double scored both runners. Courtney Phillips hit a double and scored the lone run in the fifth inning. Summer Adams’ single drove in the run. Elkmont scored seven runs in the seventh. Thompson hit a double and single to lead Ardmore at the plate. Jennifer Ratley’s double was the only extra base hit. Hitting a single each were Miles, Callie Steadman and Gilbert. Robinson hit a pair of doubles for Elkmont as Ussery and Phillips each hit a double and single. Robertson hit a triple as Adams and Sutton each added a pair of singles. Tribble and Elizabeth Locke each added a base hit. Ardmore 1, Athens Bible School 0 Allison Hodges scored the deciding run when Ardmore beat Athens Bible School 1-0 on Saturday. Amber Wise hit a double in the top of the sixth. Hodges, the courtesy runner for Wise, scored when Amy Collier hit a double. Casey Steadman went the distance on the mound for Ardmore as Abbie Melvin pitched for the Lady Trojans. Jada Norton led the winners with a single and triple while Wise hit a double and single. Amy Collier hit a double and Kelsey Gilbert a single for the Lady Tigers. Emily Irwin had ABS’s only hit a single. East Limestone 10, Ardmore 0 Kayla Sneed threw a 6-hitter when the East Limestone Lady Indians defeated the Ardmore Lady Tigers 10- Friday in the Limestone County Softball Tournament. Aarika Boggs was the starting pitcher giving way to Kelsey Gilbert after 3 2/3 innings. Brittany Miles and Jada Norton had two singles each for Ardmore as Casey Steadman hit a double and Jennifer Ratley a single. Jyssica Pepper had three of East Limestone’s 10 hits. Chelsea Turner and Carly Rhodes added a pair of singles each. Ardmore 3, Elkmont 2 A 3-run fifth inning proved the difference Friday when Ardmore defeated Elkmont. Casey Steadman picked up the pitching win, allowing three hits. Emily Sutton started on the mound for Elkmont holding Ardmore scoreless for 3 2/3 innings. Meagan Tribble gave Elkmont a 1-0 lead in the opening frame after hitting a single. She scored when Anna Grace Ussery hit into the infield. The Lady Red Devils increased the lead, 2-0, in the third. With two outs Bailee Robinson got a base hit and scored on Elizabeth Locke’s double. In Ardmore’s fifth, Jada Norton hit a single and Kelsey Gilbert hit a double. Aarika Boggs hit a double scoring Norton and Gilbert. Boggs scored when Steadman hit a double. Boggs hit a pair of doubles for Ardmore as Callie Steadman hit a double and single. Casey Steadman and Kelsey Gilbert doubled while Brittany Miles and Norton each hit a single. |
