With the return of warmer weather, maybe gardening can resume. Hopefully we can get more rain, and these frozen shrubs and trees will come back out. The Oak Grove Homemakers Club met at clubhouse on the third Wednesday, April 18 for their regular monthly meeting with nine members present. President Jeanette Davis called the meeting to order and gave the thought “To add to your joy, count your blessings” Joyce Shawn led in the devotional using Colossians 2: 12-17, then a story about Columbine, Colorado. The ladies sang the hymn “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”, followed by the pledge to the U.S. Flag. Secretary Mary Ann Jacobs called roll and read the minutes to last month’s meeting. Treasurer Clara Bumpus gave the treasurer’s report. Business: There were 22 tote bags turned in with a toy and a book. A Thank You note was read from Hospice for the items turned in from their wish list last month. A $50 donation was voted on and approved for the Cancer Walk. Mrs. Bumpus presented the demonstration about all the good that has been done by the International Heifer Project. Plans were made for the regular, third Wednesday, May 16 meeting, which starts at 9:30 a.m. with a cleaning of the clubhouse. Bring a covered dish for lunch. The May project is lap throws and bibs for nursing home use. Visitors and new members are welcome. Happy Birthday wishes Wednesday, April 25, J.D.
