The long-awaited project aimed at widening Alabama Highway 53 from Huntsville to the Tennessee state line is finally underway.

Tigers Show Steady Improvement
Ardmore High School’s Varsity Baseball Team has made great strides as the 2006 season has progressed. Tentative and mistake prone during pre-season action and early in the year, the Tigers have begun to play as a team and have made steady improvements on the diamond.

Lady Tigers Split Season Games
The Varsity Lady Tigers Softball Team picked up two shut outs this week in season play, while dropping an area game. Ardmore shut out Athens Bible School 12-0, at home on Monday. The Lady Tigers dropped a 10-4 game to the visiting East Lawrence Lady Eagles, in area action on Tuesday. Ardmore traveled to Tanner on Thursday, and picked up another 3-0 shut out.

Ardmore Junior Lady Tigers Split Close Games
The Junior Varsity Lady Tigers Softball Team split two games last week in season play. Ardmore dropped a close 1-0 game to Athens Bible School at home on Monday. The Lady Tigers came from behind on Tuesday, to defeat the East Lawrence Lady Eagles 6-2.

Talkin' Baseball
Well, baseball fans, it didn't take the "Curse of the Goat" long to work its dark magic on the hapless Chicago Cubs this year. I'm not talking about the fact that the Cubbies opened the season with ace pitchers Mark Prior and Kerry Wood on the Disabled List.
