Lady Tigers Split Season Games

The Varsity Lady Tigers Softball Team picked up two shut outs this week in season play, while dropping an area game. Ardmore shut out Athens Bible School 12-0, at home on Monday. The Lady Tigers dropped a 10-4 game to the visiting East Lawrence Lady Eagles, in area action on Tuesday. Ardmore traveled to Tanner on Thursday, and picked up another 3-0 shut out.

The Lady Tigers pounded out ten hits on Monday, to shut out the Athens Bible School Trojans 12-0. Ardmore began scoring in the bottom of the first inning; by taking an 8-0 lead. The Lady Tigers continued scoring throughout the game as it ended early due to the run limit.

Leading Ardmore in hits was Brittney Brown with three singles. Other hitters for Ardmore were Amy Collier with a double and a single and Shannon Fogg with two singles. Casey Steadman hit a double for Ardmore, while Melissa Sharp and Jennifer Ratley each hit a single.

Steadman took the pitching win for Ardmore, striking out nine batters, walking one, and permitting only one hit. Amber Wise was the catcher.

The Lady Tigers took a hard fall to area opponent East Lawrence on Tuesday, as they fell 10-4. Errors were a big factor in Ardmore’s loss to East Lawrence, as they made seven. East Lawrence only scored three earned runs, while Ardmore had one.

The Lady Eagles took an early lead in the game, as they jumped ahead in the first inning 1-0, after a batter reached base on an error and later scored. The Lady Tigers had an opportunity to score in the bottom of the inning, but left three runners standing on base.

Ardmore had another opportunity to score in the top of the second inning. Aarika Boggs hit a single, followed by a single from Shannon Fogg, but the inning ended with runners on second and third.

East Lawrence picked up two more runs in the top of the third inning, before Ardmore answered with one. Jennifer Ratley led off with a single to right field and later scored on a wild pitch.

East Lawrence continued scoring in the fourth inning, as well as the fifth, taking an 8-1 lead. Ardmore held the Lady Eagles in the top of the sixth, allowing for no hits and no errors.

The Lady Tigers battled back in the bottom of the sixth inning, picking up three runs, to bring the score 8-4. Melissa Sharp led off for Ardmore, reaching base on an error and later stole home. Amy Collier picked up a single, followed by a single from Callie Steadman. Aarika Boggs reached base on an error, loading the bases. Brittney Brown flied out to left field, scoring Collier. Steadman then scored on a passed ball at home. Shannon Fogg reached base on a walk, before the inning came to a close, with two runners left on base.

East Lawrence picked up two more runs in the top of the seventh inning, to take a 10-4 lead. Jennifer Ratley reached base on an error in the bottom of the inning. Melissa Sharp lined out to shortstop and Ratley was thrown out at first. Amy Collier picked up a single for Ardmore, but was unable to score. Ardmore dropped a 10-4 game to East Lawrence in area play.

Aarika Boggs took the pitching loss for Ardmore, striking out two batters, walking five, and permitting ten hits. Callie Steadman was the catcher.

The Lady Tigers shut out the home standing Tanner Lady Rattlers on Thursday, 3-0. Ardmore pounded out eleven hits, while holding Tanner to only one.

The game remained scoreless until the top of the sixth inning when Ardmore took a 2-0 lead. Melissa Sharp led off with a single, and scored on a single hit by Sara Jo Taylor. Jada Norton reached base on a fielder’s choice and later scored.

Ardmore picked up one more run in the final inning of play to take a 3-0 win over Tanner. Shannon Fogg hit a single and scored on a single hit by Amy Collier.

Leading Ardmore in hits was Fogg with three singles and a double. Sara Jo Taylor picked up two singles for Ardmore, while Jennifer Ratley, Melissa Sharp, Amy Collier, Jada Norton, and Aarika Boggs each hit a single.

Casey Steadman took the pitching win for Ardmore striking out twelve batters, walking zero, and permitting only one hit.
