Four new books at the Ardmore Public Library are Catherine Palmer’s Love’s Haven, JRR Tolkien’s The tale of the Children of Hurin, Michael Palmer’s The Fifth Vial, and Stuart Woods’ Fresh Disasters.

Stuart Woods is the author of 34 novels, and he outdoes himself with Fresh Disasters, the newest edition of the Stone Barrington series. With the often-hilarious action, razor-sharp characters, and crackling dialogue that are his hallmark this book is Woods at the pleasurable height of his storytelling powers.

On Tuesday, April 24, 2007, in “The Huntsville Times,” Patsy E. Gray of Huntsville wrote in the editorials “that not only cannot everyone afford a computer or know how to use one but that the very library thought to be obsolete by many has computers that can be used without charge and computer classes in which to use them that are also without change.” So when you think that libraries are becoming obsolete remember that everyone cannot afford or chose not to purchase their own books or computers; therefore, libraries will be available for a long time for those who desires and needs the services that libraries can offer them.

There will be two more Story Time Programs for preschoolers this school year on May 2 (“May Day” with Becky Smith) and May 9 (Mother’s Day and “End of School Year” Party) then Story Time will resume on September 5 after school starts back. This summer there will be a summer reading program on June 13, June 20, June 27, and July 11 at 10 a.m. for children ages 12 and under. The theme is “The rompin’ stompin’ reading roundup.” Sign up and get a free book.

The Friends of the Library will have a meeting on May 9 at 1p.m. If you are interested in joining the Friends, the yearly fee is $5. The Friends is a non-profit organization that joins together in an effort to raise funds for the Ardmore Public Library while having enrichment programs for the Ardmore community.

Rose bushes are still on sale, but we only have about six left.

Thanks to the ones who donated the roses and to those who purchased them in support of the library.
