Payton Blade, a man well-known and much-respected by area residents, has been named Fire Chief of Elkton, TN. Blade replaces former chief Dan Yant, who recently retired.
Blade has served with the Elkton Fire Department for over 13 years and has met all requirements to qualify for the position. The new chief also serves as the city’s vice-mayor.
Blade assumed his new position with a proactive attitude and states that his first priority is to recruit new volunteers and to motivate present fire fighters to increase their involvement with the department.
“We need the community to pull together and support one another,” said Blade. “We have such a great community in Elkton.”
The new chief is looking forward to the completion of the new fire hall being built in the city. According to Chief Blade, the new building is in the process of being wired and he anticipates occupying the building by the end of May.
Blade, a life-long Elkton resident, and his wife Brandy have two sons, two-year old Bryce and one-year-old Kaden.
