News From SunBridge Submitted by Carl Harney April has been a busy month. On April 2nd, we had a pizza party. Special thanks to Pizza Inn. Everyone had a good time and plenty of pizza. The Golden Age Rhythm Band came on the 4th and all the elders had a good time. Some of the elders got to dance, which they enjoyed. We would like to thank Michelle Cothren for the Easter eggs that she brought on Monday night, April 4 On Monday, the 9th, we had a poke sallet festival. Linda Deason brought deviled eggs and goulash. Mildred Mitchell brought the poke sallet and homemade butterscotch bread. We really had a good time. Everybody enjoyed the poke sallet. It was a change for us. Some of our elders went to Lawrenceburg, TN, for the Tennessee District Senior Olympics. We had five to go and three won ribbons. Carl Harney, Wayne Lemmond and Michael Clark won 4th place in basketball. Charlie Barnes and jewel Bishop also went. They didn’t’ enter any games, but cheered the others on. Thanks to Dana McNatt, activities director; Rachel Wales, activities assistant; Jane Miller, housekeeping supervisor; Brandi Combs, C.N.A.; and Karen Berish, C.N.A.; for helping to ensure the safety of our elders while out on an extracurricular activity away from the facility. The elders traveled through Amish country. Jane Miller guided them through Lawrenceburg where the Amish reside and they got to see the Amish families riding in their horse and carriage and the beautiful countryside. They are planning to go back in June and take more elders for some more “Senior Olympics”. Thank you to Sam McMean, Jackie Case, and Will McMean for their good services. We really enjoyed it. Thanks for taking time to come and play for us. On Friday, April 6th, we had a fun day for the old and young, an Easter Egg Hunt. The elders hunted eggs in the building with prize eggs to be found. Ruby Brooks and Carl Harney found the prize eggs. The employees got to hunt eggs in our nice fenced in courtyard. The 1st and 2nd shift employees hunted eggs, but the 3rd shift couldn’t hunt in the dark. Cassie Mistretta made sure that they received chocolate bunnies for their prize. All in all we had a lot of fun. Some of our employees brought their children or grandchildren to hunt eggs. They hunted eggs in the courtyard and had a lot of fun. So you see, Easter egg hunting is not just for children. We had our regular games of Bingo on Mondays and Fridays. We played some old and new games, kick ball, ring toss, hangman, basketball, what’s in the bag, ball toss, small talk, categories game, trivia, reminiscing, who said it, chip in, complete the phrase, and penny ante. All had a lot of fun and enjoyed the new games. The gardening club met the 10th with about 10 ladies. They made plans to plant flower cuttings. On the 11th they planted the flowers and gave them to the elders for their rooms. We made Hawaiian bread every Friday. Everybody enjoyed the bread and the fellowship. The 25th was our regular birthday party for the elders, but it happened to also be Evelyn Burns’ 94th birthday. She had a good time at the party and so did all the elders. Thank you to L & S Food Market for the birthday cake and Mildred Mitchell for all the food she brought. Everyone had a good time and plenty of food to eat. Thanks to the kitchen staff, Wanda Lovell and Jennifer Grayson for helping us with serving the elders. We have a new Activities Assistant, Rachel Wales. She has resigned from her C.N.A. position to work under Dana McNatt , activities director. We would like to welcome aboard Kristy Horton, RN; Brenda Rook, LPN; and Cassie Daly, LPN.
