With gardening on everyone’s mind, The Friends of the Library are focusing on their June Garden Tour. That Saturday will allow people from Ardmore and the surrounding area to see up close some of the local gardens. In conjunction with the tour, is the Friends’ Enrichment Program on May 10th at 2 p.m. Terry Hopkins will be speaking to the Friends Group and to any one else that wishes to attend about “Attracting, Nesting, and Feeding Wildlife.” Terry’s main focus will be on bringing wildlife to your yard and how to feed them so that they will stay. His main emphasis will be on birds, butterflies, small mammals, and bats. If you are interested in attending, the meeting will be in the City’s Annex Building behind the library.

The Ardmore Public Library has several books on gardening and outdoor life. In the Children’s Section, some are Creepy Crawlers-Caterpillars, Watch Me Grow Butterfly, Garden Friends, Hurry and the Monarch, Icky Bug Colors, and The Icky Bug Alphabet Book. Here also are a few of the books that you will find in the Adult Plant and Gardening Sections of the library Field Guide to Birds, Sweetness & Light, Field Guide to Butterflies, Shade Gardens, Time-Tested Plants, The Southern Living Garden Book, Rock Garden Plants, Trees for the Small Garden, Birdhouses You Can Build in a Day, and Creating Birdhouses.

Story Time for all the local children has five more meetings this school year. Mary Woods is on for this Wednesday, April 19, at 10 a.m. The theme for her program is “Nursery Rhymes.”

Final plans are being made for the Summer Reading Program for children ages 12 and under which will be starting June 21 at 10 a.m..Anyone interested in donating to the program, can do so by contacting Verlin at the library.

The Quarterly Board Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19, at 4 p.m.
