Wade To Seek Re-Election
As Giles County Clerk

Long-time public servant Carol Hamlett Wade has announced her intention to seek re-election to the office of Giles County Clerk. Wade has worked in the County Clerk’s Office for three decades.

“It has been an honor to serve as County Clerk for the last term,” said Wade in announcing her candidacy. “I appreciate the opportunity to be able to help citizens with all the services we offer. We are always looking for changes we can make that will give the public what they need.”

Wade is a 1973 graduate of Jones High School and also graduated from Martin Methodist College in 1986. In asking for re-election, Wade states that she has enjoyed serving Giles County and feels it is an honor and a privilege to be entrusted with the duties of her office. She states that she plans to continue to work tirelessly to give the citizens of Giles County the same services here that are available in other counties.

The County Clerk’s Office is a busy place, involving many duties. In addition to keeping the minutes of the Giles County Commission meetings, the clerk’s office also collects business taxes, issues marriage licenses, collects hotel/motel taxes, beer taxes, and other fees. The office is also responsible for accepting applications for county beer licenses.

According to Wade, the most common duty of the County Clerk involves vehicle registration.

“Registering your vehicle is not always a simple matter,” said Wade. “Many times there are problems that must be worked out by contacting the state and complying with their orders.”

Wade is the daughter of John David and Patsy Hamlett of Lynnville. She and her husband Mike also reside in Lynnville and have two children and three granddaughters.
