L. Paulette Atkins, 57, of Brooklyn, MI, died April 14, 2006, in Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI.

Paulette was born September 22, 1948 in Ardmore, AL. She grew up in Michigan and graduated from John Glenn High School in Westland in 1967. She was preceded in death by her father, Adron Hasting and sister, Gail Stempien.

Survivors include sons, Rusty and Tim; daughter, Nicole (Dan) Goodman; mother, Billie (Charlie) Cooley of Ardmore, AL; sisters, Judy (Jim) Tilley and Kathy (Paul) Jernigan; brother, Dwight Hastings; close nieces, Sherri Stempien; three additional nieces and five nephews.

Cremation has taken place.

Nancy Mary Pittman, 67, of Shipley Hollow Road, Elkmont, AL, died Sunday, April 30, 2006, at Hillside Hospital, Pulaski, TN.

Services will be announced at a later time.

Nancy was born on June 19, 1938 in Indianapolis, IN, to Virgil and Peggy Swango. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ardmore, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eddie Roy Pittman; and one son, Thomas Desatel.

Survivors include one son, Michael Lance Pittman of Dana Point, CA; one daughter, Katherine Pittman of Elkmont, AL; and one granddaughter, Crystal Reighn Pittman of Laguna Beach, CA.


Richard Thomas (Dick) Bue, 76, of Pulaski, TN, died Monday, May 1, 2006, at Hillside Hospital.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 3, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home with Bro. Brent Hawkins and Bro. William Suddarth officiating. Burial will be in the Elkton Cemetery in Elkton, TN. Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bue was a contractor for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Forest and Anna Erickson Bue, and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Summers Bue of Pulaski; three sons, Ricky and Kathy Bue of Elkton, Bobby and Jackie Bue of Pulaski, Rocky Bue of Lynnville; three daughters, Debbie and Bobby Crabtree of Pulaski, Lorrie and Levoia Smith of Elkton, and Kandie Brown of Franklin; 11 grandchildren, Karyn Crabtree, Keith Crabtree, Amy Bue, Stephanie Bue, Catherine Mills, Anna Bue, Chris Bue, Levi Bue, Crystal Smith, Erika Brown, Adam Brown; and five great-grandchildren.


Jane Williams Dunavant, 80, of Campbellsville Community, died Monday, May 1, 2006, at Life Care Health Center in Columbia, TN.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 3, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 4, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Dunnavant officiating. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery. Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dunavant was preceded in death by her parents, Kirby Smith and Virginia Jane Keltner Williams; her husband, Gene Dunavant; brother, Graham Williams; sisters, Anna Lou Moore, Flora Sanders, Mary Lizzie Wilson and Olivene Brown.

Survivors include one son, Dennis Eugene Dunavant and wife Judy of Sutherland, VA; one daughter, Connie Moates and husband Stephen of Columbia; brothers, Bunyan Williams and Herbert Williams of Pulaski; sisters, Martha Harwell of Moorpark, CA, Rachel Ingram of Pulaski and Evelyn “Dude” Harwell of Pulaski; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.


Mary Henrietta Redding Witt, 79, of Athens, AL, died Monday, May 1, 2006, at her home.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 4, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the McConnell Funeral Home in Athens.

A graveside service will be held at Antioch Cemetery in Elkmont, AL on Thursday, May 4, at 2 p.m. with Jaina Anderson, associate pastor of First Presbyterian church of Athens officiating.

Henrietta was born January 24, 1927 in Columbia, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Leonard Redding and Mary Bailess Redding, both long-time residents of Giles County, and one brother, Leonard Bailess Redding, of Birmingham, AL.

Henrietta grew up in Giles County, living in Lynnville and Pulaski during her formative years. She was a member of the Presbyterian faith as were her parents.

She attended Martin College’s developmental school as a child and later attended Giles County High School, graduating in 1945. She received her A.A. degree from Martin College in 1947.

In June of 1947, Henrietta married Robert E. Witt of Elkmont and moved to Limestone County, AL, where she resided the remainder of her life. She returned to school and received her degree in art education in 1977 from Athens State College.
