Joint Council Approves Purchase Of Lighting
The Joint Council of the City of Ardmore, TN Board of Mayor and Aldermen and the Town of Ardmore Mayor and Town Council, meeting in scheduled session on Monday night, approved the expenditure of $6,800 to purchase 12 light poles and fixtures, earmarked for use at the Alabama Park and at John Barnes Park.



Sunday Auction To Benefit St. Jude’s
Fowler Auction Company will hold a charity auction, starting at 3 PM on Sunday, May 20. The proceeds from the auction will go to benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The auction will take place at 28235 Mooresville Road, Elkmont, AL.


Third Avenue Paving Project Completed
Area motorists traveling along Third Avenue in Ardmore will notice that the street is much improved, due to the completion of a repaving and striping project. The project, which makes travel along the busy street easier for Ardmore residents, was the subject of a brief report delivered to the Town of Ardmore, AL Mayor and Town Council on Monday night, May 14.




Ardmore’s Lady Tigers Stop North Jackson
The Ardmore Lady Tigers stopped visiting North Jackson 1-0 and 11-1 in a pair of sub-state games at Ardmore High School.


Big play ends Lady Tigers’ 2007 season
The Ardmore Lady Tigers ended their softball season Saturday in dramatic fashion dropping the best of three series to the Central Lady Wildcats. With the win the Lady Wildcats advance to Thursday’s state tournament. With the loss the Lady Tigers’ season comes to an end.


Annual Black And Gold Game Slated For Friday
Fans of Ardmore Tiger Football are in for a special treat this Friday, May 18 as the team will hold its annual Black and Gold Football Game. Those interested should take note that this year’s game will take place at 1:30 PM, rather than the traditional 7 PM kickoff time.


ABS Lady Trojans Fall
When the dust cleared Saturday and state play-off action concluded, the Athens Bible School softball team was the only team from this area left in the tournaments.


Eric Atchley advances to next level
Eric Atchley, a senior catcher at Ardmore High School, will join several players from Limestone County, Saturday in the second round of the Alabama Lions Club sponsored East-West All-Star Baseball Games at Hanceville High School.


Demolition Derby To Benefit Hope House
The 5th Annual Giles County Hope House Demolition Derby will be held Saturday, May 19, at the Giles County Agri-Park. Gates open at 3:00 p.m. and action will begin at 5:00 p.m. A special attraction Saturday will be Hammer Cars available for your “pounding pleasure”. Admission is $5.00 with children five years old and under admitted free. Concessions will be available.


Talkin’ Baseball
This week I don’t want to talk about wins, losses, pennant races, or the latest steroid revelation. What I want to talk about this week is ejections.
