Eric Atchley advances to next level

Eric Atchley, a senior catcher at Ardmore High School, will join several players from Limestone County, Saturday in the second round of the Alabama Lions Club sponsored East-West All-Star Baseball Games at Hanceville High School.

Atchley caught three innings last Monday and had a pair of hits when the Limestone County All-Stars fell to Morgan County 11-8.

This is the second year for Atchley to participate in the annual contest. He was the only Ardmore Tiger chosen to participate.

Other players from Limestone County chosen to compete in Hanceville were: Colin McMurry of Athens, Ryan Griffin and Matthew Moore of Clements; George Adams and Cliff Bunch of Tanner; along with Colton Hill, Jake Meeks and Ryan Wheeler of West Limestone.

Players from Morgan County chosen to advance were: Jake McCay and Laken Laughmiller of Austin; Bryan Rogers and Kevin Burroughs of Danville, Drew Atchley and Bo Godwin of Decatur Heritage; J.C. Bates and Ethan Widner of Hartselle; and Matt Croft of Priceville.

Saturday’s sub-region game will feature the combined players from Morgan and Limestone County opposite players from Cullman and Blount County.
