Ardmore’s Spring Band Concert Slated Thurs., May 18

Area residents are once again in for a special treat as the Ardmore High School Band will present its annual Spring Concert tomorrow night, Thursday, May 18. The event will be held in the gymnasium at 7 PM.

According to AHS Band Director Stanley Nelson, this year’s concert will be both entertaining and lively, featuring the Middle School Band and the High School Band.

“The kids have worked very hard to get things ready for this year’s concert and are looking forward to performing for their parents, family and friends,” said Nelson. “We have selected a wide variety of musical pieces and believe all who attend will have a great evening.”

Sixth Grade band members will perform American Fantasy by Michael Story; Crazy Klock, by James D Ployhar. Seventh Grade band members will perform Honor March, by Sandy Feldstein and Larry Clark; Olympia, by Brian Balmages; and The Mighty Nile, by James Curnow.

The Ardmore High School Band will perform: For the Common Man, by Aaron Copeland; American Cameos, by Jay Dawson; Cotton Ferry Rag by Ralph Ford; British Isle Suite, by Larry Daehn; Declaration, Ballade, and Finale, by Ed Huckeby; and the George Washington Bi-Centennial March, by John Phillip Sousa.

In addition to the musical arrangements, several awards will be presented including the Senior Award; Most Outstanding Award in Each Grade; the Nuncie A LeBerte Award for Service and Leadership, and the Rachel Nayman Bandsman Scholarship.

Admission to the concert is $3 in advance and $1 for students. Children age pre-school and under are admitted free. Advance tickets are available from all band students. Tickets at the gate are $3.
