“I am asking for the privilege of representing the people of District 1,” said Shaver. “I have no ties to any business, governmental entity, organization, or any other conflicts that could effect my decisions on issues before the commission. I feel my most important commitment, if elected, will be to serve the concerns and issues as they effect the citizens that I am seeking to represent.” Shaver went on to stress his commitment to education. “One of my primary concerns is education,” continued Shaver. “I would like to see more effort given to developing the historical heritage of our area and promotion of tourisim in our county.” Shaver and his wife Marilyn, a teacher at Elkton School, have five children. “If elected, I pledge to the citizens of District 1 that I will always be available to them,” said Shaver. “I will be glad to have their input on any matter concerning issues before the commission and I will encourage their involvement in county government. From experience, I know how much time, effort and study is needed to do an effective job as a commissioner. I am retired and have the time as well as the desire to vigorously represent the voters of the First District.” |
