Ardmore Welcomes New Head Football Coach Tracy Malone

A large and enthusiastic crowd turned out last Friday evening to meet new Ardmore High School Head Football Coach Tracy Malone. Malone, who succeeds outgoing Coach Ken Adams, was on hand for the event, along with his family and members of the 2006-2007 Tiger Football Team.

Malone has been holding spring practice with the Tigers for over a week now, and has scheduled the annual Black and Gold Game for this Friday, May 19. Overall, Malone is positive about what he has seen as the Tigers have taken to the practice field.

“I think we are getting there, but of course it’s still pretty early,” said Malone. “What I am most impressed by is the kids’ attitude. They really get out there and get after it and they have a positive mind set.”

According to Malone, much of the first week of spring practice was focused on getting the players in shape and giving the coach and his staff an opportunity to see who and what they had to work with.

“We have been working to get the kids into football shape and see what kind of depth we have,” said Malone. “Again, this is a good group of kids and they want to be coached. I think we are going to do okay. We have more talent at the skilled positions than I thought we might have and that is encouraging. We are just going to keep working hard and put forth our best effort.”

Malone went on to say that he is very pleased with his reception in the Ardmore community.

“I really like the hand I have been dealt here,” continued Malone. “The players have been motivated and the coaching staff is first-rate. I have also received a lot of support from the administration and the community. The Quarterback Club is a real asset and I am very grateful for all they have done.”
