Union Hill Youths Drilled To Perfection

Four members of Union Hill Baptist Church competed in this year’s Baptist Association Drill Competition. Amber, Rachel and Caleb Williams, as well as Jessica Riddle represented Union Hill Baptist Church in Bible drill competitions recently.

Amber Williams, at the age of 14, won the state title for Tennessee in Brentwood, after defeating regional competition in Columbia, TN on April 28.

The competition not only consists of memorizing books of the Bible and verses, but each contestant at the youth level must be prepared to receive a topic, such as salvation, and respond with a book of the Bible as well as recite a verse pertaining to the said topic. The contestants are scored on their memorization without errors and their speed of recital.

Amber has competed at the state level for the previous three years bringing home the second place prize in her first year, followed by the first runner-up title, and tackling state for the 2007 competition season.

Amber is the daughter of Martin and Jacque Williams of Ardmore, Alabama. She is the granddaughter of Frank and Alma Williams of Ardmore, AL and Patricia and Steve Hodge of Pumpkintown, South Carolina.

Along with Amber were three other participants who received the highest award given in the children’s division of competition. Rachel and Caleb Williams and Jessica Riddle represented Union Hill Baptist Church at the Regional Level of Bible drill competition in Columbia, TN, where the three children all scored Winner’s Superior ratings. To receive this outstanding award, each child must have made two mistakes or less.

Rachel is 12 years old and has competed in Bible drill competition for three years.

Caleb is 10 years old and has participated for two years.

Rachel and Caleb Williams are the children of Martin and Jacque Williams of Ardmore, AL. They are the grandchildren of Frank and Alma Williams and Patricia and Steve Hodge.

Jessica is 12 years old and has competed for two years. She is the daughter of Roger and Tammy Riddle. She is the granddaughter of Lois Riddle of Ardmore, AL and the late Leon Riddle, and Levonia King of Ardmore, AL and the late Tillman King.
