Mr. and Mrs. Eddie LaPorte of Montgomery announce the engagement of their daughter, Lacey Diane LaPorte of Auburn, to Chad Bryant Michael, son of Debbie Michael of Toney and the late Rickey Michael.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Annette LaPorte and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Dumas, all of Selma, and the late Lawton LaPorte.

She is a 2001 graduate of Trinity Presbyterian High School and a 2005 graduate of Auburn University, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority. She is employed by Colonial Bank in Auburn.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Marie Ruf of Athens, Dorthea Michael of Ardmore, Leonard Ruf of Huntsville, and the late Billy Michael.

He is a 2001 graduate of Hillcrest High School and a 2006 graduate of the University of Alabama. He is employed by Pike Liberal Arts School in Troy as a teacher and coach.
