Jones Retires After
31 Years Of Teaching

Wanda Jones, a kindergarten teacher at Blanche School since 1988, retired this year after 31 years of teaching.

Faculty and staff of Blanche School honored Mrs. Jones with a reception on Thursday, May 18. She received many gifts, flowers, and words of appreciation from those attending.

During her teaching career, Mrs. Jones has touched the lives of many students and their families. She has helped many scared and shy children as they began their education.

She has also been there for those who were eager to plunge into the school curriculum with lots of untamed energy. Mrs. Jones has also been a role model for many other teachers throughout the years.

“I have enjoyed the people and the community of Blanche,” said Mrs. Jones. “From the beginning, they have been warm and friendly. It has been a privilege to work with families who share the traditional values that I was taught.”

Mrs. Jones and her husband, Rodger, who is a retired maintenance worker at Blanche School, live in Fayetteville.

Wanda is the daughter of Florence McGee of Fayetteville and the late Delbert McGee.

When speculating about her retirement activities, Mrs. Jones said she would work on the farm, take care of the cows, and do some traveling.
