Public Meeting Planned Tomorrow For Giles Hazard Mitigation Plan
Giles County residents will have the opportunity to attend a public meeting tomorrow, June 1, to hear discussions regarding the development of the Giles County All-Hazard Mitigation Plan.

Dr. Carroll Awarded
Dr. Barry L. Carroll, Superintendent of the Limestone County Schools, was honored by The Capstone Education Society at The University of Alabama on Sunday, May 7. The 2006 College of Education Recognition Dinner was held at the Bryant Conference Center on the Tuscaloosa campus. Dr. Jim McLean, Dean of Education at The University of Alabama presented Dr. Carroll with the Outstanding Contribution to Education Award in the category of Educator Other Than Teacher in recognition of his exemplary contributions to education.

Garden Tours Slated Saturday, June
The Flower Garden Tours sponsored by the Friends of the Ardmore Public Library will be held Saturday, June 3, 2006. The gardens will be open for viewing from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm.

Our world is frequently referred to as a Global Village and residents of the Ardmore area need look no further than the recently graduated Class of 2006 at Ardmore High School to verify that, indeed, our world has grown smaller.

Arctic Edge Offers VBS Fun For Children
Children throughout the Ardmore area will have a chance to go on an adventure to Lifeway’s Arctic Edge during Vacation Bible School (VBS) activities June 5-9. Participants will enjoy a daily excursion from Big Bear Lodge. They will be hiking across the tundra, exploring the seascape by kayak, and skimming the back country in a float plane.
AHS Holds Spring Sports Banquet
Beneath a festive display of black and gold bunting, coaches, administrators, parents and friends of AHS athletics gathered last Tuesday night to pay honor to student athletes involved in spring sports activities at Ardmore High School.

AHS Soccer Players Recognized
Members of both the Tiger and Lady Tiger Soccer Teams were honored on May 23 at the annual AHS Spring Sports Banquet. Head Soccer Coach Susan Wiley presented awards to those present and stated that she felt that both teams had made great efforts and much improvements over the course of the season.

If you are the coach of one of the youth baseball, softball or soccer teams that is competing in the Ardmore area during the summer months, or if you are the parent of a child playing on a team, YOUR COMMUNITY SHOPPER would like to provide publicity for your team whenever possible. We are also interested in travel baseball and softball teams that feature local players.

lEach year it seems that a team most pundits predicted to be toward the bottom of the heap somehow manages to come out of the gate hot and fast. Some of these teams fade by mid-May. Others continue to play well and ignite a firestorm of speculation about whether or not they will be in the pennant hunt come October.
