Let’s Talk! By Alderwoman Laurene Schrimsher It’s time to visit with you again. My last column had mixed reactions. Some folks liked what I wrote, while a few others thought I should have kept quiet; more for it than against it. I do thank you for all your comments. So, let’s try again. Lots of different subjects have been discussed at the City Council meetings the past few months. The purchase of the property to be used for the new City Hall has taken up a lot of Council time. As you know. 1.28 acres were purchased for $110,000.00. Building plans have been discussed informally but no decisions have been made. What do you, the residents of Ardmore, TN, want for your City Hall? What does the City Hall mean to you? Let your thoughts be heard; after all, you’re paying for it, and now is the time to speak. Several of you have asked about the status of a new library. No decisions have been made on whether to build a new one or to remodel the existing building to include the space presently used by the City Hall. Again, what do you think? Lots of work has been done on the City Hall annex: (around $36,000 worth of sheetrock, wiring, ceiling, additional exit doors, stage, kitchen, etc.) Stop by and peek in sometime. This is your Community Room to be used for your family reunions, wedding receptions, or whatever. To you Seniors who have asked and called me about your cable bill, I brought this up at the last Council meeting, and was told we have no control over this. Maybe if you talk ot the mayor or vice-mayor they could explain. This was before my time. You may reach them by calling the City Hall. To the young children and their parents, School is out for the Summer. A lot of children will be playing, riding bikes, skateboards, etc. So let’s all watch for them and parents, remember, it’s your responsibility to make sure they wear helmets and stay out of the streets. Please be careful and have fun. We want you around so you can be an Alderman some day. Congratulations to all of Ardmore’s graduates. We are all proud of you and wish you the best. Remember to register to vote and take an interest in your community. Here’s looking @ ya!!
