Shara Flacy Announces Candidacy

Shara A. Flacy recently announced her candidacy for the office of General Sessions Judge of Giles County, TN.

Flacy has been a resident of Giles County since 1964. She is the daughter of Ramona Flacy of the Elkton-Ardmore area and the late Robert B. Flacy. Shara resides with her mother on a farm where they raise commercial Black Angus cattle and quarter horses.

Flacy attended public school in Elkton and Pulaski. She graduated from Giles County High School in 1974 as valedictorian of her class. She attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where she received a bachelor of arts degree in English with high honors in 1978 and where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She then enrolled in the University of Tennessee College of Law where she received a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree in 1981, she entered the private practice of law in Giles County. She received her license to practice law in Alabama in 1984. She served for three years as an Assistant Public Defender for the 22nd Judicial District of Tennessee. She was elected District Public Defender for the 22nd Judicial District

(consisting of Giles, Lawrence, Maury and Wayne counties) of Tennessee and served one six-year term. Her memberships include Pulaski Lions Club, life member of the American Quarter Horse Association, Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association, Alabama State Barn, Board of Trustees for the Bluegrass Regional Library, Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ & Exhibitors Association, and The Literary Club of Pulaski.

Flacy said, “I believe that my life experiences from residing in Giles County for over 40 years, living on a farm most of my life, caring for my father while he battled Parkinson’s Disease, and practicing law both as a private attorney and as a government attorney has prepared me well to serve as General Sessions Judge. I do not accept campaign contributions. I am personally going door-to-door throughout Giles County to meet the voters, listen to their concerns, and ask them for their support and vote in the August 3rd election.”
