June 21 at 10 a.m. is the beginning of the summer reading program “Jungle Tales---Hiss, Rumble & Roar.” This first program will have Nan Fallin of T&N Acres with an animal exhibit. There should be a wallaby, snake, silky dove, fannic fox, hissing cockroach, and hedgehog among other things. Over a hundred children have already signed up for the four-week program. This year, we are looking at keeping up with minutes rather than books that you spend in time reading or being read to. Please only count Ardmore Public Library’s books in your record keeping. We hope that this makes things easier especially on the mothers. Southern Adventures tickets for a free round of mini-golf will be given out to every child who attends this program. Beginning Monday night, June 19, Maalac Steele of the Chamber of Commerce will be having chess in the Reading Room from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Maalac, an avid chess player, would like to see the program extend to everyone Monday night. Anyone interested in learning to play or in learning new techniques is welcome to attend. You can sign up by coming by the library or calling 931-427-4883. Please remember this summer that we have several people in line who wish to use the patrons’ internet computers so please be courteous. Don’t be loud while using the computer. Check on your allotted time limit, and please don’t get on anything that you wouldn’t want your own mother to see. |
