James Moon Announces Candidacy For Tennessee House Of Representatives

James P. (Jim) Moon, a native of Marshall County, has announced his candidacy as a Republican for the Tennessee House of Representatives from the 65th District, consisting of Marshall and Giles Counties.

Moon is a graduate of Battle Ground Academy and Rhodes College, with a degree in economics. He earned his Masters Degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1973. From 1967-73, Moon coached football and wrestling while teaching mathematics and economics. In the summer of 1973, he returned to Lewisburg to join J.R. Moon Pencil Company.

During his 25 years at Moon Pencil Company, he served as sales manager, personnel director and president. Moon co-founded Eraser Products with his father in 1984.

Moon is no stranger to community involvement. He served as president of the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce, was founding director of Wee Care, and served on the Board of Trustees for Columbia State Community College.

Moon also served two terms on the executive committee of the National School Supply and Equipment Association, for which he received its highest service recognition in 1998, the David McCurrach Award.

Moon, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lewisburg, is married to Bonnie Omohundro Moon, from Nashville, and has three children.
