Paige Griffith has announced her candidacy for the office of City of Elkton, Alderman. Griffith lives in Elkton with her husband and two children.
The Griffiths became citizens of Elkton during the recent annexation. Griffith has been attending the monthly meetings of the city council and, in announcing her candidacy, expressed concern with the way Elkton is being managed. Griffith states that she feels that the voice of the citizens of Elkton is often ignored, while the personal agendas of the elected officials often take precedence. She is also concerned with the financial status of the city.
“I was very disturbed by how the City board members handled the recent annexation. It was made plain to us that it did not matter how the people felt or what they wanted, said Griffith. “The Board would do what it wanted, because it could. I feel that it was a misuse of power. Our City government is responsible to its citizens. It is supposed to listen to what the people want for their town. As I have talked to the citizens recently I have heard that many have voiced concerns over road repair, more police protection and having access to the sewer system, but felt that these issues were not taken seriously by the Board.”
