Saturday the 24th is Prospect School Reunion at Prospect Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Time is 12 noon. Finger foods and drinks are to be brought. They are always good. Pictures and memories of the past get more interesting. Hope lots will show up.

I had surgery for breast cancer in June of ‘97, got home about 3 days before the reunion. Judy Towry Steelman collected me and I made an appearance. Well, on June 8, 2006, I did it again. Yep, on a routine mammogram on April 12 they found suspicious areas. Ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, and lots of prayer followed. I am home and supposedly good for many years to come, Lord willing. I, also have something those Hollywood girls have, my own plastic surgeon. Keep praying.

I am saddened by the death of Donny Ray Hudson. I missed the visitation, as I was leaving for Baptist Hospital in Nashville. He was a cut up and he always commented favorably when I wore red.

I also missed the visitation and funeral of Mrs. Hattie Steelman. She was next to my momma in goodness and sweetness. The two would laugh, tell about eating pinto beans and cornbread at Mamma’s kitchen table at 3 a.m. while Mamma soaked her feet in a warm pan of water. Mrs. Hattie and Mr. Eb and some of their younger children lived in the back rooms of our house a few times.

Not much cluttering of the roadsides with campaign signs this time, yet. I have a few left from ‘98 and will be getting them out. Some districts and offices do not have any changes looks like coming up. May get crazy in July.

Register and vote as this may be an important year to define how you want marriage and the family in America to be.
