Summer is officially here according to the calendar. As hot as it has been I know it has visited several times already this year. We had a shower on Sunday night, but sure would be nice if we had more on our corn. The leaves have been rolled up tight. Maybe soon a rain will come our way. Cora and Nick Patterson hosted the 1949 graduating class of Ardmore High School on Saturday evening at their home for a cookout. There were 13 that attended and some called during the event and talked with several of them. It is time for the Germantown get-together, the third Saturday on July 15, 2006 at the Oak Grove Clubhouse on Thach Road. This special day has been enjoyed by many for a number of years. All descendents of the German settlers of the area: Ruf, Bauer, Boeswetter, Rupp, Gey, Sammet, Eckstein and others that may have been overlooked, are encouraged to attend. Bring photos and a covered dish. Meet your friends, neighbors and relatives, over a delicious meal. Lunch is to be served at 12 noon. For more information call Lermon Gey at 256-232-0803, Mrs. Charlie Sammet Jr. 256-232-4281. Hope to see you there. Happy Birthday wishes Wednesday, June 21, Sheri Campbell, Matt Ratley, Jackie Merrell, Nathan Smith, Teresa McCown Jones; Thursday, June 22, Jackie Bailey, Kim Smith; Friday, June 23, Tracy Goldsmith, Doris Whitt, Nelson Smith, Nickie Emerson, Ryan Fowler; Saturday, June 24, McKala Lucky, Stratton Hasting, Crystal Thornton, Wendy Faulkner, Cecil Faulk, James Fowler; Sunday, June 25, Shell Beddingfield, Hannah McNeese, Matt Sirten; Monday, June 26, Haley Burt, Leslee Gaston, Christopher Michael Gatlin, Pat Crosson, Doris Meadows; Tuesday, June 27, Bobby Haney, Donald Douglas McNeese, Shirley Locke.
