Third grade students at Blanche School recently grew cabbage plants for the Bonnie Plant Farm 3rd Grade Cabbage Program. The students tried to grow the largest cabbage possible.
After some tender loving care from some little gardeners, several quite large cabbages were harvested. The largest cabbage, weighing 18 pounds, was grown by Jared Vance. Jared is now entered in the $1,000 scholarship contest for the state of Tennessee.
Other students with exceptionally large cabbages were Karl Mitchell, 11 pounds; Kole Smith, 17 pounds, Dakota Crabtree, 10 pounds; Ashley Stevenson, 16 pounds; Seth Williams, 13 pounds; Hannah Vandiver 4 pounds; Austin Whitt and Taylor Petersen, 6 pounds.
