Limestone Board of Education Meets By Perry Lewter Two new positions were approved when the Limestone County Board of Education met in regular session Tuesday, June 20. New positions at Tanner include a multi handicapped special education teacher and a multi-handicapped instructional assistant. New personnel approved for the 2006-07 school year were: Marquis Gray a social science teacher at Ardmore; Rebecca Martin a teacher and Monica Morgan a special education inclusion assistant at Cedar Hill. Ericka Zirbel will be an itinerant speech pathologist at Clements and East Limestone. Margaret Kelly will be a new elementary teacher at Creekside. New hires at East Limestone include science teacher Erica Baker and guidance counselor Vicky Ferrara. New to Elkmont will be physical education teacher Rudy Griffin and sixth grade teacher Adam Wicker. Christy Johnson will be a special education inclusion assistant at Johnson while Kathy Hudson will be a special education Pre-k collaborative teacher at Piney Chapel. New at the Career Tech School are Angela Craig, a special education instructional assistant; Jason Emerson, a precision machine instructor; Tim Springer, a welding instructor; and Melanie Griffin, a special education gifted teacher. Transfers that were approved for the coming school year include: Sara Massingill from an itinerant music teacher at Cedar Hill and West Limestone to a similar position at Cedar Hill and Piney Chapel. Jennifer Mosteller, who had a similar position at Clements and Owens will serve in that position at Clements and Reid. Sharon Rush, an itinerant music teacher at Elkmont and Piney Chapel will serve in that position at Elkmont, Ardmore and East Limestone. Joe Brannon will be an itinerant music teacher at Johnson and Owens after serving in that position at Johnson, Reid and Tanner. Cassandra Brown has changed from a part-time CNP worker/assistant at Owens to a full-time position at Clements. At Creekside, Crystal Pugh will be moving from a library assistant to a special education inclusion assistant while Jenea Stanley will be changing from a special education inclusion assistant at Clements to an elementary school teacher. Marsha Ryan will be a special education inclusion assistant at West Limestone to a similar position at Owens. Odell Shoulders will be transferring from a CNP worker/assistant at Cedar Hill to a CNP worker/assistant at Tanner. Sharon Wallace will be a special education teacher at West Limestone after serving as a counselor assistant. Cyndi Harbin will be a full-time technical specialist at the Career Tech School after being an itinerant technical specialist at Career Tech and Reid. Angela Garner will be moving from a bus utility worker at the bus garage to a bus driver at West Limestone. Jacqueline Lacy has been approved to substitute for an elementary teacher at Creekside as Misty Dildenback will sub for an elementary teacher at Tanner. Both positions are approved for the entire 2006-07 school year only. The school board approved the resignations of: Nathan Fogg at Ardmore; Jonathan Mucci at Elkmont/Cedar Hill; Prentice Chandler at Clements; Linda Faulk at Johnson; Marjorie Bermudez at the Central Office; and Joan Berzett as a summer school teacher at Tanner. Other resignations that were approved include: Daylee Preston at East Limestone; Susan Fry at Elkmont and Jennifer Farmer at Reid. Josie Jenkins, an elementary teacher at Creekside, was granted an extended leave of absence. The following were approved as temporary help: Patsy Poole, sixth grade summer school teacher at Tanner; Debbie Blakely, summer school bus driver for the ARA Academy at Cedar Hill and Shirley Abercrombie , summer custodial help at Creekside. New hires, transfers and resignations were approved Tuesday June 6, when the Limestone County School Board met in regular session. Approval was given to the hiring of Jeremy Hinson as guidance counselor and Roger Vining as custodian at Ardmore. Diana Blackwood will be a new elementary teacher at Clements while new teachers at Creekside are Rachel Bain, Rachel Brister and Kristi Long. Candilyn Holt and Greg Sutton are new elementary teachers. Erin Bryant was hired at Elkmont while Erin Robinson will teach Spanish and History. Erin Bryant will be an itinerant speech pathologist at Owens and West Limestone. New teachers at Owens are Annetta Mathis and Christal Townsend while Brandi Hall is a new teacher at Piney Chapel. Jordan Paul will be a new physical education teacher at West Limestone while Tina Hendrix will be a new elementary teacher. At Tanner Tonia Wilburn was hired as a special education collaborative teacher and Lynda Wray as a CNP cashier. Joan Comer will be a reading coach at Clements while Katrena Allen will teach special education at Johnson. Transfers include: Rhona Hilbert from an elementary teacher at Creekside to a reading recovery teacher/reading coach at Creekside; Cindy Wales from an elementary teacher at Cedar Hill to an elementary teacher at Elkmont; Tammy Pressnell from a special education bus assistant to a bus driver at Elkmont and Janice Toone from a bus driver at Piney Chapel to a bus driver at Elkmont. Alton Downs is going to Piney Chapel from Elkmont as a physical education teacher; Jennifer King will remain at Piney Chapel changing her special education assistant position to an elementary teacher position while Matt Stockman is going to Piney Chapel as an elementary teacher after serving as an elementary teacher at Elkmont. Linda Looney is moving from a full-time CNP work/assistant at Reid to a part-time CNP assistant at that school; LeeAnn Stephens will transfer to Tanner as a reading recovery from a similar position at West Limestone; Dawn Nicholson will be an elementary teacher at West Limestone instead of serving as a payroll clerk at the Central Office and Leisha Russell will move from an elementary teacher at Ardmore to an elementary teacher at West Limestone. The board accepted the resignation of Steve Britton, a social studies and physical education teacher at Elkmont and Marjorie Hayes, a secretary/receptionist at Tanner. The resignations of John Witt, Melissa Nix and Marilyn Bradley were accepted. The board rescinded the resignation of Deanna Young, which had been approved at the April 3, 2006 meeting. Witt was a social studies/physical education teacher at Ardmore, Nix a summer LPN/special education assistant at Johnson while Bradley was an elementary teacher at Piney Chapel. Young was a guidance counselor at Tanner. Leaves of absences were granted for LeAndrea Hobbs, a language arts teacher at East Limestone and Haney Wallace, an elementary teacher at Piney Chapel. Five persons were approved as temporary help. They included John Andrews and Marchez Glover as custodial workers at Creekside; Dehone Toney as a special education assistant at East Limestone; Micki Thomas as a special educational assistant at Tanner and Scott Sutton as a summer school science teacher at Tanner. The board also approved 13 days of pay for band directors and varsity head boys and girls basketball coaches and football coaches. The Best Academy will be moving from Piney Chapel to Carrier Technologies Center and will be housed in two of the 10 portables approved for purchase. Three-year principal contracts were approved for Matt Scott and Cleo Miller who were on a probationary period. The next meeting of the school board will be at 6 p.m. |
