Thanks, Bob Allen, for the picture of the Ables family in the Liberty News. Great timing. Peg Womack Leonard came by and cut it out and took it to the Prospect School Reunion. Mrs. Katherine Ables Dollar’s daughters were reminded of how beautiful their mother was. I sure hated to miss this one, but Lord willing I will be there next year. Harold and Judy Towry Steelman came afterwards to tell me about it all and brought good food. Peg had left some teacakes like our mothers used to make. I loved the special printed card that everyone signed. Those attending were Martha Dollar Bogle and Bill, Pauline Crabtree Ables, Katheryn Womack Luttrell, Peg Womack Leonard, Jerry Ables, Doug Ables, Mary Ellen Ables Beddingfield, Frances Ables Stewart, Magaline Ables Edwards and Robert, Harold and Judy Towry Steelman, Terra Payne Harrison, Ruth Stevenson Key, Chief Dorning, Irving Dorning, Jr, Jerry Dorning and Karen, Peggy Ann Ashby Lewter, Zela Towry McDougal, Lex Henderson and Margaret, Sue Whitaker Moore, Linda Moore Williams, James Mathis, Joyce Cowan Robinson, Dene Dollar Bell, Russell and Joyce Walker Monks, Joe Swing and Thelma, Hunky Womack, Lanier Gray, Martha Daniel Crowell, Kay Daniel Arnold, Joyce Monks Dupin, Carolyn Dollar Davis. Some that usually come weren’t able age and health wise to make it. Bonnie Laten Gaul was back up north preparing for wedding of a family member. Kenneth Dorning would have loved it. He used to say we needed to keep it up, if there wasn’t but two of us left. Thursday I went to the Dr. in Nashville then to Franklin to Dr. Murphy of Tennessee Oncology. He planned my treatment following cancer surgery in 1998. He says no chemotherapy, take Arimidex, a hormone blocker, 1200 mg of calcium with vitamin D daily, and a good multi vitamin. I do not like to take narcotics so I am glad Dr. Whitworth does not use. He started me on Celebrex 200 mg three times a day for 3 days before my surgery, then every 12 hours. I have not missed anything that way. Fortunately I have a high pain threshold. My left arm is still in a sling so as not to move my muscle beneath the arm. I only have one Jackson Pratt drain and hopefully it will come out tomorrow when I go back to Nashville. I am good for however many years the Lord has planned for me, so the doctors say. Hmmm, wonder what I should do? Start planning the next year’s Prospect school reunion? Learn to use both arms again? This pecking around with one finger is for the birds, just remember don’t let the word cancer scare you to death and enjoy life in the Lord. God bless Maple Ferguson
