Limestone County Coaches And Band Directors Surprised By Raises
by Dwight Turner Often overlooked is the fact that many Limestone County football coaches, basketball coaches, and band directors put in long hours, even during summer vacation, to help students hone their skills and improve their performance. Usually, these extra hours were donated, not paid. The Limestone County Board of Education changed that in a meeting on June 6. The board voted to pay football coaches, basketball coaches, and band directors for 13 additional days per year. According to Limestone County School Superintendent Barry Carroll, there was ample funds in the budget to cover the raises and he went on to say that the coaches and band directors deserved the raises, due to the many extra hours put in to assist student athletes and band members. |
