151st Army Band To Hold Athens Concert July 10
The 151st Army Band, often called the “Governor’s Band,” will hold a concert in Athens on July 10 at 7 PM. The concert will be held at the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives, located at 1500 West Pryor Street.


Sixth Annual Ardmore Fire And Rescue Truck And Tractor Pull Slated For July 14-15
It’s that time of year again, when the roar of screaming engines and the cheers of enthusiastic fans will be heard drifting from John Barnes Park in Ardmore, TN. On Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15, Ardmore Fire and Rescue will host its Sixth Annual Truck and Tractor Pull.

Tiger Varsity Cheerleaders Bring Home First Place Cheer Trophy
Ardmore High School’s Varsity Cheerleading squad added another feather to its already crowded cap last week, taking first place in the “Cheer Competition,” held at the annual UCA Summer Camp in Tuscaloosa. In addition, the squad took third place in the “Extreme Routine” competition and placed fourth in Pom Pom.


Tiger Spirit Camp A Big Success
Exciting sounds of Tiger cheers and dance music was heard drifting from the gym at Ardmore High School this week as girls between the ages of five-years-old and sixth grade took part in an exciting and educational cheerleading program.

Athens Bible School Head Softball Coach Tony Andrews and the Lady Trojans entered the 2006 season with a burning desire to make it back to the state playoffs, where last season the team finished as runner up.


Former Giles County High School Stars Sign With MMC RedHawks
Eric Howard and Shay Shannon, who shared the court at Giles County High School and most recently played for Columbia State Community College, have both signed letters of intent to play for Martin Methodist College in 2006-2007.


Three RedHawk Players Garner All-Conference Honors
Three starting players from Martin Methodist College’s Baseball Team, Jesse Thornton, Alan Lindsey and Courtney English, were recently named to the TranSouth Athletic Conference All-Conference.

Area cycling buffs will have the opportunity to participate in a great ride, while, at the same time, contributing to a worthy cause as the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives will host a Poker Ride on July 8.
