151st Army Band To Hold Athens Concert July 10
The 151st Army Band, often called the “Governor’s Band,” will hold a concert in Athens on July 10 at 7 PM. The concert will be held at the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives, located at 1500 West Pryor Street.

Tiger Varsity Cheerleaders Bring Home First Place Cheer Trophy
Ardmore High School’s Varsity Cheerleading squad added another feather to its already crowded cap last week, taking first place in the “Cheer Competition,” held at the annual UCA Summer Camp in Tuscaloosa. In addition, the squad took third place in the “Extreme Routine” competition and placed fourth in Pom Pom.

Exciting sounds of Tiger cheers and dance music was heard drifting from the gym at Ardmore High School this week as girls between the ages of five-years-old and sixth grade took part in an exciting and educational cheerleading program.

Lady Trojans Finish Second In State
Athens Bible School Head Softball Coach Tony Andrews and the Lady Trojans entered the 2006 season with a burning desire to make it back to the state playoffs, where last season the team finished as runner up.

After Mighty Casey struck out, it was said there was no joy in Mudville. Well fans, there’s not much celebration going on in Wrigley Field either. The Cubs, predicted to be contenders in the National League Central this season, have gone belly up in the early summer sun.
