Boys And Girls Club Dwight Turner The 151st Army Band, often called the “Governor’s Band,” will hold a concert in Athens on July 10 at 7 PM. The concert will be held at the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives, located at 1500 West Pryor Street. Admission to the concert is free, but a donation jar will be prominently displayed. The 151st Army Band is headquartered in Montgomery and is made up of members from all over the state, from Mobile to Huntsville. The band also includes members from Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and North Carolina. The band is under the direction of WO3 Mark Mills of Montgomery. Those who follow military bands describe the 151st as excellent and professional. The band is famous throughout Alabama for its concert band and also for several “Bands-within-a-Band.” These include a jazz band, a rock combo and a woodwind quartet.
